Mission Beach - Belmont Park

A Day at Belmont Park

San Diego

Our after tax season getaway to Mission Beach, California.

Universal Studios!

While on our after tax season get away we visited Universal Studios Hollywood.

Staying in Mission Beach, in the San Diego area, and then driving to Universal Studios was not the best idea is you don't like long car drives.  We did not realize that on a Thursday morning it would take us just over three hours and horrible traffic to make the trip.

Jennifer had left her purse in San Diego so she wouldn't have to carry it all over the park and only brought her wallet. As we were getting out of the car she realized that she had left the tickets, valid for that day only, in her purse in San Diego.

We had to contemplate a 6 hour round trip to get the tickets, buying new tickets or doing something else in LA for the day.  As she was explaining how she had printed the tickets and then left them in her purse it hit us that they had been printed from an email and we still had the digital tickets on her phone.  They were able to scan her phone at the entrance and we got in without problems.  That was a very long few minutes.

Installing the floors

Pictures the installation phase of the hardwood floors.

Kevin Jones volunteered his time to help us with the floors. Josh Ricker (not pictured also spent a day and an evening helping with the flooring and putting the stove back in place.

Jennifer is the floor laying queen.  The manufacturer recommended 18 gauge staples so the stapling down process was a lot faster without using the mallet style hardwood floor nailer.

The living room floor mostly finished.

Tearing up the floor

Since the grandparents are back in the Democratic Republic of the Congo I am going to start adding pictures so that they can easily access the pictures.

We started tearing up the floors to replace the flooring that was damaged by the broken pipe this weak.

Ryan and Conner Ollila working as a team to pull up the old hardwood.

The sister missionaries helped out a lot also.

We had the windows and doors open for most of the evening as everyone was very hot, but as you can see Jennifer was freezing and had to have her jacket on.
